The 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Toxicology (JSOT) will be held at the Sapporo Convention Center from June 30 (Thursday) to July 2 (Saturday), 2022. The JSOT is the toxicology event in Japan, one of the biggest in this field.
The theme of the JSOT 2022 meeting is "One Health and Toxicology". One World One Health is a concept that considers the health of humans, animals, and the environment/ecosystem as "one health". Toxicology is an approach that links not only human and animal health, but also social and economic issues.
Our Scientific Director, Vincenzo Di Donato, will present the topic “New trends and updated availability for Zebrafish studies in EU and US (including clinical trials resulting from zebrafish-based drug discovery/screening pipelines)”. Don't miss it on July 2, 9:00 - 11:50 AM (JST).
The presentation is about the zebrafish as one of the most promising models to be considered as new approach methods (NAMs) for novel research in drug discovery and regulatory hazard determination. Vincenzo will talk about the latest developments in zebrafish studies in the U.S. and Europe with a special focus on:
1) Regulatory needs to which zebrafish can offer answers in the next years.
2) Clinical trials currently ongoing resulting from zebrafish pipelines.
In the first part, we analyze the relevance of the model for regulatory authorities based on current guidance as the OECD series on testing and assessment of chemicals and ICH safety guidelines as well as new initiatives.
In the second part, we will describe studies that go from bench to bedside and present examples of drug repurposing through zebrafish studies such as clemizole for the treatment of Dravet syndrome and ProHema for leukemia.
Join us at JSOT to know more about our efforts toward the validation of NAMs, demonstrating that they can replace mammalian testing while being equally protective of human health.
